| Mold and virus flourish wherever it is damp, cool, poorly lit areas or where air is not circulated. Mold can be found in carpets, draperies, air ducting and around air handlers because of the conditions in which they operate. On yachts, molds are commonly found inside air ducting and around chilled water plumbing due to worn or torn insulation or anywhere standing water may be present. As mold grows, they cause considerable damage. They emit a musky odor, and carry harmful bacteria and viruses that can be found in the air and also on food and other spaces. This can cause serious sickness and health issues. Although mold has been stopped from breathing or even killed, unless it is actually removed, the spores can still cause allergic reactions and sickness. Musty odors on board yachts are not uncommon. They are particularly prevalent in yachts with chilled water systems because of the high humidity level. |

* Isolating the infected areas & set up air scrubbers
* Cleaning all air ducting using a four stage H.E.P.A. filtration vacuum system
and a brushing agitator to knock loose mold & debris, thus preventing mold
from becoming air-bourne.
* The use of chemicals, fungicide/biocide, to treat/disinfect surface areas will
also help to reduce the odor caused by fungus. Other chemicals that leave
no residue will also be introduced by using a heated fiber system to reach
areas that can not be accessed directly.
* All air handler evaporators will be serviced, cleaned and treated with proper
chemicals to insure the irradiation of mold, bacteria and viruses.
* All drains are checked and cleared. All blower motors are removed and
brought to our shop to be cleaned, treated and disinfected. They will then be
reinstalled and checked for proper operation.
* The introduction of ultra violet lights are recommended to be installed to
prevent the return of mold growth. Ultra violet light in conjunction with an air
purification system will benefit air quality and insure a clean air
environment of living spaces by reducing bacteria, mold, odor and viruses.
* All air handlers will be checked for proper operation, mechanical and
electrical, for safe and reliable operation of air conditioning systems.
